AI Top 36: Round 2

Well, let's see first off... the 2nd set of 12 was pitiful in comparison to the first set last week. Thinking back to last week and my disappointment with a lot of the performances, that's saying a lot. Thank jeebus they bailed on the red room and the awkward parent interaction.

I don't know where to start. I guess I'll just head straight to my predictions for tomorrow. Adam Lambert (although his whole persona doesn't jive with me, i think simon summed my thoughts quite well) and Allison Iraheta (that's my kelly clarkson girl!) for the male and female leads. Then I would guess either Mischa Vonna Henson (surprised me but she was mostly in tune and i can't say that for the majority of the show) or Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentile.

Sorry to Kim if I have bad predictions!!

I was very pleased with Jasmine Murray's ruff performance and saddened by Kim's piano man Matt Giraud's TERRIBLE song choice, your vibrato and song choice must match people! I have many more thoughts on the show, but they'll have to wait til the podcast!

AI Top 36: Round 1 Top 3

hahaha that title makes me laugh, so many numbers!

looks like our predictions and my love of lumberjacks came through tonight. danny gokey, alexis grace and michael sarver (he apparently dropped the jeremy) made it through to the top 12!

i actually couldn't be more pleased :) i was bracing myself to lose sarver (my lumberjack love), but the american audience looked past his questionable performance last night and let him through. i'm pleased because i know he can do much better and i can see his lumberjack ways at least one more time.

ten dollars says the judges bring back crazytown tatiana del toro for the wild card round. it wouldn't be idol if they didn't.

AI Top 36: Round 1

Well all right then. The first AI live show is out of the way. Thank god. Hopefully now they can stop screwing everything up. Am I the only one who has no pity for a gazillion dollar enterprise that doesn't know how to run a live show? Anyways, I just got done watching it, so I'll give you my predictions.

I thought this was going to be a much tighter race than it was. The highest vote-getter for the guys will obviously be Danny Gokey, far and away. How he can sing "Hero" and get away with it is beyond me, but whatever, he obviously doesn't suck.

The girls were something else. As far as I'm concerned, the only people in the race are Alexis Grace and Tatiana DelToro, as much as it pains me to say. If America can get past her being the craziest contestant ever, Tatiana has the best voice. If they want someone that seems sane, they'll pick Alexis because she's the only other girl who didn't murder her song in one way or another.

The third spot is a hard one, mostly because no one else did that well. It definitely won't be a girl. It's kind of a toss-up between Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver who both are extremely enjoyable but suffered from poor song choice.

With this new format it will be interesting to see how they will stretch the results show into an hour with only three spots to give away. Laura and I will watch tonight's episode and hopefully get a podcast to you sometime tomorrow or Friday.

Let us know what you think about the first round!

Weekend Update

Oh I love that Amy Pohler and Seth Meyers :)

On the American Idol front we were set to record tonight and Kimmer's internet begged to differ. Her apartment complex provides the internet service and sometimes it goes kaput for no apparent reason. Unfortunately tonight was one of those times.

I was considering posting a few comments, but I don't wanna spoil the soon-to-be episode too much... just know that as a long time fan of Idol I always expect, and yet dread, the truly crazy contestants. We are hoping to record Sunday night and have it out asap for you to get pumped for next week's episodes and the first set of 12 semi-finalists.

Top 36 Predictions by Kimmer

Hello people! I know we said we were going to do a podcast in between the episodes this week, but I opened my fat mouth before I realized I worked second shift on Tuesday and Laura had interviews on Wednesday.

So I just got done watching Tuesday's episode and wanted to make my short predictions which you will hear in full on the podcast we record this evening. Then I'll watch yesterday's episode and see if I'm right.

Don't worry Randi, I think Adam Lambert will get through. He looks like a Fiyero.
-Matt Giraud
-Anoop Desai (is enjoyable)
-Scott the blind guy
-Lil Rounds
-Tatiana the freak show will get into the top 36 because it's like bringing the horror of auditions to Hollywood.
-Steven Fowler totally bombed and still made it through, so I bet we'll see him again.
-Norman Gentle for the same reasons as Tatiana, except he's faking.
-Anne Maria Boscovich
-Oil Rigger Man is gold.
-Milwaukee boys because people love a best friends story and they don't suck that bad. But if only one gets through, it'll be Danny.
